Emergency Numbers

Hospitals & Clinics

These are switchboard numbers for calling ahead or coordinating arrival — a hospital line cannot dispatch an ambulance. For a life-threatening emergency call 123 or 132 instead.

Earthquake Safety Reminders

  • During: Drop, cover, hold. Stay away from windows and heavy furniture. If outdoors, move to open space away from buildings.
  • After: Check for gas leaks (smell). Turn off gas at main valve if you smell it. Do not use elevators.
  • Aftershocks: Expect them for hours or days. Same rules apply — drop, cover, hold.
  • Water: Fill bathtubs and containers with clean water if pressure is still available.
  • Communication: Text instead of calling to reduce network congestion. WhatsApp works when regular calls fail.
  • Foreigners: Contact your embassy. Register with STEP (US), FAN Assistance (UK), or your country's equivalent.
